He practices in intellectual property litigation, predominantly in patent litigation.
Ashley has been involved in complex and significant patent litigation across a number of subject areas in both Australia and the United Kingdom for domestic and international clients. His practice has consisted primarily of patent litigation in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and mobile telecommunications sectors. He also has experience with matters concerning standard essential patents and FRAND disputes.
Ashley’s experience also includes providing advice and acting for clients on trade mark, design, copyright, competition, and confidential information related matters.
Ashley has a background in nanotechnology, including studies across a broad range of subjects such as chemistry, physics, materials science and biology. His Honours studies involved the synthesis of a model molecular rotor based on a rotaxane system (organic chemistry). He has also completed a number of postgraduate law degrees in Australia and the United Kingdom, receiving awards for his studies in the Master of Intellectual Property at the University of Technology Sydney and the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice at the University of Oxford.
Ashley joined DCCL after practising in the intellectual property litigation teams of a number of leading Australian, international and US law firms.
