No IP laws in Myanmar exist as yet. Owners of IP rights in other jurisdictions may protect their rights in Myanmar by declaring their ownership. Legal protection will therefore come about under the relevant penal or civil code (for example under Myanmar Penal Code 1860). The ownership declaration can be filed with the Registrar of Deeds and Assurances. Announcing to the public of the submission of the declaration may be done by also filing a Cautionary Notice. Unregistered Patents cannot be the subject of a Cautionary Notice.
