Patents - Minimal/Rushed Filing Requirements

The minimum of information needed to effect filing, and gain a valid filing date, is the following:

For all cases: 

  1. Applicant(s) name and address
  2. Inventor(s) name and address
  3. Title of invention
  4. Thai translation of title, abstract and claims

For Convention cases: 

  1. Priority particulars
  2. If priority document is not in English, an English-language specification is required 

For National Phase cases: 

  1. Copy of published PCT specification
  2. Copy of PCT Request and Thai translation thereof

For a national phase entry from a published PCT application (in English), with no changes to the above details, the PCT application/publication number is sufficient. If a change has been recorded, the form PCT/IB/306 along with its Thai translation must be submitted at the time of filing.

Trade Marks - Filing Requirements

The minimum of information needed to effect filing, and gain a valid filing date, is the following:

  1. Name of Applicant
  2. Address of Applicant
  3. Citizenship / Country of Incorporation of Applicant
  4. The mark to be filed (specimen of the mark in jpeg format for device marks)
  5. Details of colour claim, if any
  6. The classes and specification of goods and services in English
  7. Additional requirements to claim priority: Country, trade mark number and application date of priority application

Documents

  1. Original notarised Power of Attorney
  2. Scanned copy of certified priority document and a signed declaration of priority (as appropriate)
