DCC meets the producers of all things fine in Tasmania at the Brand Tasmania event

2 minute read

On 12 August 2013, Ian Drew and Ross Clark attended Brand Tasmania’s meet the producers networking event.  Producers of whisky, wine, cheese, olive oil, cider and grass-fed beef (to name just a few) had their wares on show at the Wrest Point Boardwalk Gallery.  All of the producers are members of Brand Tasmania and proudly carry the Brand Tasmania logo on their products.

The chairman of Brand Tasmania, Mike Grainger of Liferaft Systems Australia, gave a review of the last 12 months of operation and set out its plans for 2013 – 2014. Mike then introduced the premier Lara Giddings who gave a strong talk on the importance of the group to Tasmanian businesses and, more particularly, the importance of unifying under a common collective mark.

The evening was capped off with a short promotional video showcasing some amazing images of Tasmania.  The video was accompanied by an original contemporary musical backing, I Can See Your Heart.  The backing was sung by former Badloves frontman, Michael Spiby. Michael was supported by fellow UTAS Conservatorium of Music lecturers Professor Andrew Legg, founder of the Southern Gospel Choir, and Stewart Long of ‘Red Planet’ fame. The words were written by expatriate songwriter Matthew Charles who is now resident in Hamburg.
