Michael Caine becomes President of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA)

Davies Collison Cave would like to congratulate Principal and Patent Attorney Michael Caine who recently became President of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA) at the Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 11 April 2019 during IPTA’s annual conference held at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Michael has been a member of the IPTA council since 2001, serving as Vice President for the last four years. During his 18 years as a member of council he has served a number of roles including convenor of the International Patents Committee from 2001 to 2009 and convenor of the Patents Legislation Committee from 2010 to 2019.

In addition to his role as president of IPTA Michael is also the vice president of the Study & Work Commission (CET) of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) and for the last six years he has been the chair of the International Patents Group of the CET.

Our principals hold a number of senior positions on local and international professional bodies in additon to IPTA and FICPI, including the Trans-Tasman IP Attorneys Disciplinary Board, the International Trademark Association (INTA), AusMedTech, Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), Law Council of Australia, LAWASIA, AusBiotech, the Association of Singapore Patent Attorneys (ASPA), the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).
