Premier Anna Bligh announces Life Sciences Queensland

1 minute read

On 3 December the honourable Anna Bligh MP, Premier of Queensland announced the Queensland Government’s support for a new Queensland life sciences industry organisation – Life Sciences Queensland.

The announcement was made at a luncheon held at the State Library of Queensland, attended by 100 guests. Davies Collison Cave was pleased to become involved in the newly established organisation from the outset as a Foundation Supporter of QLife.

The Foundation will represent the life sciences industry (which includes companies, research institutes, and relevant foundations) and facilitate the growth of companies in Queensland to provide diverse economic, social and environmental benefits. The Organisation will provide unified representation of the sector at industry, public and Government events.

A particular focus will be to ensure that the early stage funds being established in Queensland are successful through application of skills development, facilitation of deal flow, and brokering international connections. It will represent Queensland’s life science industry sector in the international market place including industry events, delegations and in joint ventures.

It is anticipated that the Organisation will contribute to the economic development in Queensland through the establishment and growth of new industry sectors, and through transformation of existing sectors.
