INNOVATION – OPEN THE DOORS TO A SMARTER BUSINESS 

On 3 March 2016, Western Sydney Business Access (WSBA) hosted their Innovation event at the Parramatta Leagues Club. The event theme, ‘opening the doors to a smatter business’, featured topics such as how innovation can drive success, the habits of successful grant applicants, and how innovation can capture research and development.

DCC’s Damon Henshaw and Will Hird took to the stage to discuss the topic, ‘What is your IP worth?’.

ASSOCIATION OF CORPORATE COUNSEL SINGAPORE

DCC proudly co-hosted an Association of Corporate Counsel event in Singapore on 28 January, which explored business innovation across Asia. The event included discussion about  how in-house legal teams can take advantage of innovation to leverage business growth. 

Des Tan presented on the subject of IP assets to gain a competitive advantage, while Ken Simpson from MasterCard spoke about implementing IP strategies in practice. The presentation concluded with Tracy Tham, Senior Manager and Business Incentives Advisory at EY, who discussed incentives around R&D and IP. 

CSIRO MANUFACTURING GOLF DAY 

On 4 March, DCC’s Mark Roberts and Julian Curwen represented DCC at the CSIRO Manufacturing Golf Day at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club. 

DCC was a sponsor of the event and in perfect conditions a great day was had by all.

WOMEN IN ENGINEERING WORKSHOP

DCC’s Shu-Yen Lee recently attended Deakin University‘s Women in Engineering’ workshop, which discussed the launch of its new program, encouraging girls in school to consider engineering as a career pathway. 

The program will support young women whilst studying engineering and help them establish an engineering network. The workshop was attended by many female engineers from manufacturing companies based in Geelong and surrounding regions. 

GEELONG BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS LAUNCH 2016

On Wednesday 10 February, Davies Collison Cave (DCC) associates Grace Chan and Cheryl Hrvoj, attended the launch of the Geelong Business Excellence Awards. This year’s judges and last year’s winners were in attendance along with many members of the Geelong business community.

DCC is proud to be supporting the awards through sponsoring the ‘Advanced Manufacturing, Research & Development‘ award category in the 2016 Awards, which is open to all businesses operating in the trade and services industry. This includes businesses that produce materials for consumers, for industrial use or for the export market, are undertaking or building infrastructure, or promoting economic development within the Geelong region.

Winners will be announced at the Geelong Business Excellence Awards (GBEA) Gala Dinner on 18 August 2016.
