Aaron joined DCCL in 2011 after completing a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) and a Bachelor of Science (majoring in genetics and molecular biology) at Monash University. Since that time, Aaron has exclusively practiced in IP litigation and has successfully represented major local and international clients in important and complex patent disputes before the Australian Patent Office, Federal Court and the High Court of Australia.
Aaron’s highly regarded IP litigation practice involves the strategic enforcement and defence of valuable patent and design rights covering blockbuster biopharmaceuticals and agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemicals as well as market leading diagnostic, building and construction, mining and consumer products. Aaron also has substantial expertise providing advice regarding the regulation of originator, generic and biosimilar medicines, AgVet chemicals and consumer products.
Aaron has been the recipient of numerous awards for his expertise in patent disputes, and is recognised as a leading patent litigator in Australia. He is a member of the Law Council of Australia’s IP and patent committees.

- Acting for the Bayer group of companies in multi-jurisdictional patent infringement proceedings concerning blockbuster medicines YASMIN®/YAZ® (oral contraceptive), XARELTO® (rivaroxaban) and EYLEA® (aflibercept).
- Acting for Sequenom Diagnostics (a LabCorp subsidiary) to establish the patentability of diagnostic methods (including non-invasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPT)) in Australia.
- Acting for the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) group of companies to restrain the unauthorised launch of generic sustained release PANADOL® (paracetamol/acetaminophen) formulations.
- Acting for Illinois Tool Works, Inc. (ITW) in patent litigation concerning PASLODE® combustion nailer fuel cells.
- Acting for the Miele group of companies to clear the way for Miele’s launch of downward extraction induction cooktops.
- Acting for the CSIRO to demonstrate the validity of high-amylose wheat IP.
- Acting for Orica Explosives in mining technology patent litigation.
- Acting for Suntory to establish the validity of patent rights for naturally sweetened carbonated beverages.
- Acting for Telstra Group to defend allegations of infringement involving patents in the fields of video telephony and GPS.
- Acting for ZTE Corporation in patent litigation involving standards-essential patents (SEPs).
