With a Bachelor's degree in Advanced Manufacturing & Mechatronics from RMIT University, Abhiram has cultivated a diverse skill set through experiences in both the engineering and legal sectors. His background is enriched by international exposure and multifaceted roles ranging from process optimisation in production environments to navigating legal complexities in patent environments, particularly within the electrical engineering sector.

At BMW in Munich, Germany, Abhiram contributed to compliance with global regulations, focusing on the homologation processes. This role honed his skills in international standards and liaising with regulatory bodies as well as applying digital solutions to enhance procedural efficiencies. These experiences underpin his meticulous and thorough approach to patent analysis and intellectual property strategy in his current role as a Trainee Patent Attorney.

Abhiram also brings practical insights from the construction industry, having working on the Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project with CYP Design & Construction. Abhiram’s engagement in project management, cost efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards provided him with an understanding of complex project dynamics. Further industry projects include an Honours Project with Ford Motor Company on “Automatic failure detection of SPR joint in automobiles” which showcased his ability to apply machine learning techniques effectively.

Abhiram was awarded third prize for the John McLaren Emmerson QC Essay Prize in 2025 for his essay Should the Person Skilled in the Art Standard Evolve to Include Generative AI?
