Prior to joining the IP profession, Ben spent several years working in industry in both mechanical engineering and marketing roles. This includes many years of experience working at Kookaburra Sport, one of Australia’s best known sporting companies, where Ben oversaw the development and introduction of the “Pink Turf Ball” for Day/Night Test Cricket. Ben has a strong knowledge and interest in sports technology, and has worked with and alongside many leaders in this field.

Ben completed a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Marketing at Monash University, where he was a recipient of a Dean’s Commendation medal. Ben also holds a Masters of Intellectual Property Law from The University of Melbourne.

In 2021, Ben was awarded the Edward Waters Prize (formerly the Institute Prize) by the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia as the best performing new attorney in their first year of practice.
