Bolin graduated from the Changchun University of Science and Technology with a First Class Honours in Opto-electronic Engineering. He pursued his postgraduate studies at the Centre for Wireless Network Design at the University of Sheffield and was awarded his PhD for the studies on the advanced technologies enabling unlicensed spectrum utilization in cellular networks. Bolin was a recepient of grants by some of world’s earliest research projects on 5G and Wi-Fi cooperation. During his PhD studies, Bolin has set up a group on 5G and Wi-Fi inter-working schemes, and has published highly cited papers in this topic.
Bolin has gained a wealth of experience in managing multi-national research projects. He has worked with research groups in Far East and Europe, playing bridge in linking academy and industry. In UK, China and Sweden, Bolin operated in developing Ranplan Wireless’s flagship radio network planning tools. He led team members in designing new optimization algorithms for network planning products, and successfully enabled the new release to support 5G features. In Germany and Poland, Bolin served as Lead System Analyst at Tieto undertaking 4G and 5G research, leading Tieto’s mid-Europe group to untertake 4G and 5G test studies.
Bolin has a strong desire to explore IP area. At his current position at Davies Collision Cave, Bolin is part of the Electrical & Electronic Engineering group where he is involved in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
