Dawid joined DCC at the beginning of 2024 and is part of the Engineering group where he assists clients with the drafting and prosecution of patent and design applications across various jurisdictions and technologies, with particular expertise in material science and engineering, ICT, mechanical engineering, extractive metallurgy and physical metallurgy.

Before moving to Australia in 2022, Dawid was an IP legal professional and registered patent attorney with the longest practising South African IP law firm, where he advised a range of African and multinational firms on significant IP matters including patent prosecution, patent infringement and validity, freedom to operate, copyright infringement and enforcement, commercial negotiations, IP strategy and policy development and cross border mediation and arbitration.

Since moving to Australia he has commenced a Masters of Intellectual Property at University of Technology Sydney and has had the privilege of working with a range of prominent local and foreign firms on patent matters including drafting, multi-jurisdictional patent prosecution, infringement and validity and freedom to operate.

Dawid has been awarded multiple industry prizes and was top of class for all four years for the BSc (Engineering) programme with the University of Witwatersrand. Dawid further holds undergraduate BA (Economics and Ancient Cultures) and LLB degrees with course work in international commercial arbitration; international tax law; risk, security and law; and internet governance at the Vrije University Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
