Hannah’s practice includes drafting patent specifications, local and international prosecution, providing strategy, validity and infringement advice, and oppositions.
Previously, Hannah was a Research Professor at the Microelectronics Research Center at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, a Resident Consultant at Bell Laboratories (Lucent Technologies) in Murray Hill, NJ, a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University, a Research Associate in the Materials Science & Engineering Department at North Carolina State University, and a Research Associate in the School of Chemistry at La Trobe University.
She has directed and performed original research in the fields of semiconductor physics and processing, nanotechnology, materials engineering, and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). Hannah has lectured in microelectronics, semiconductor processing, MEMS, materials science and patent law, and has over 40 refereed technical publications. From her research background, she also has expertise in semiconductor physics, a wide variety of materials characterization techniques, ion and electron beam technologies, software programming (including data processing and visualisation, simulation, and writing device drivers), computer networking technologies, high vacuum techniques, and nuclear electronics. Hannah has worked in several cleanrooms (in both universities and industry).
She is an active contributor to AIPPI (the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), and is vice-chair of AIPPI’s Standing Committee Q132: Information Technology and Internet. She represents Australia at AIPPI Congresses every year, where she is actively involved in developing AIPPI’s annual Resolutions, each of which defines a consensus position on what the law should be with regard to a corresponding aspect of intellectual property law.
She is the author of the Australian chapter of the book Artificial Intelligence and Patents, an International perspective on Patenting AI-Related Inventions, Kluwer Law International, 2023.
