Karen is a dynamic leader, specialising in driving positive change and innovation through thought leadership and strategic thinking. She leverages her expert knowledge to deliver commercial and customer focused outcomes.

Karen is a deep specialist in intellectual property, with 18 years’ experience as IP in-house counsel at Telstra.  She was also the Supervising Counsel managing the legal teams supporting Telstra’s big data and procurement business operations.  Subsequently, Karen was co-founder, executive director and managing principal of ipervescence, a business advisory firm offering IP consultancy services. ipervescence has since joined DCC as DCC Consulting.

Karen has been published in a number of journals including the International In-house Counsel Journal, Internet Law Bulletin, CEOWORLD Magazine (US) and Governance Directions Journal.  She is regularly invited to present at national and international forums on IP Strategy and is a guest lecturer at the University of Melbourne, Faculty of Entrepreneurship.

Karen is a long-standing member (and former Chair) of the Law Institute of Victoria’s IP&IT Committee and holds a position as non-executive director on the board of a location data company.
