William is a qualified Patent and Trade Mark Attorney based in Melbourne. His practice focusses on assisting individual inventors, start-up companies, research institutions, and large companies with protection of their inventions and designs in the fields of mechanical engineering and related disciplines.

William’s background is in applied academic research involving engineering, physics and scientific computing. His research focused on developing models and techniques to accurately predict the near-wall dynamics of turbulent fluid flows. These techniques can be used to study the flow of air and water around vehicles like aircraft, ships and submarines.

Before joining DCC, William was a Research Associate with the Defence Science and Technology Group and the University of New South Wales specialising in the fields of hydrodynamics and hydroacoustics. He has taught undergraduate and master’s level subjects at Monash University and the University of Melbourne, and has supervised final year thesis and PhD projects at UNSW and Monash University. William has also been involved in long-term research collaborations with universities and government organisations in the US and Sweden. The outcomes of his own research and research collaborations have been presented in several international peer-reviewed conference and journal publications.

William received the Dr John Patterson Prize for the best thesis in the field of thermo-fluids at the University of Melbourne and the Tony Perry Prize for an outstanding research paper presentation at the 19th Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference.
