PatentsPatent SearchingChemistryBiotechnologyMedical TechnologyPatent Drafting, Filing & ProsecutionCaely completed her Honours and PhD in Pharmaceutical Science at Monash University under the supervision of Professor Bernard Flynn, where her research focused on developing innovative methods for the rapid assembly of diverse sp2- and sp3-rich small-molecule scaffolds. During her study, she received multiple awards from Monash University, including the Medicinal Chemistry Prize, Honours Prize and the prestigious Monash University Gold Medal.
Following her PhD, Caely undertook a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Hong Kong, where she investigated the synthetic modification of sugar molecules within the field of supramolecular chemistry.
Upon returning to Melbourne, Caely held research and teaching roles within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University, where she taught undergraduate and postgraduate students and conducted education research under Associate Professor Elizabeth Yuriev, focusing on the integration of generative AI in chemistry education. During this time, she also completed a patent internship at DCC.
Caely’s research output has resulted in multiple publications in top-ranked international peer-reviewed journals and contributions to two successful grant applications, giving her a deep understanding of complex chemical and pharmaceutical innovations. This technical expertise enables her to support clients in protecting intellectual property across biochemistry, medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical science. She is now transitioning into her role as a trainee patent attorney and is a member of the Chemistry Group at DCC.
